About Us – Solitude World

Introduction

Wave Graphic

Solitude began as a family idea — to create places where people come first: guests, crew, and the communities that welcome us.

That principle still anchors everything we do today.

We’re family-founded and family-minded, guided by a professional management team that keeps our standards steady across every liveaboard and resort. This balance of heart and structure lets us offer genuine warmth with the reliability travellers trust us for.

Our story started in 2013 with one liveaboard and a small team who believed that true hospitality is felt, not claimed. Over time, that belief grew into a collective of liveaboards and resorts connected by shared values — respect, consistency, and care. Every Solitude experience, whether diving Indonesia’s coral gardens or relaxing in Lembeh’s calm strait, reflects the same commitment: thoughtful service shaped by people who love what they do.

Behind every trip is a team we’ve nurtured and grown with. We invest in training, encourage curiosity, and create opportunities for personal and professional development. Many of our crew have been with us since the beginning — their pride and familiarity define the feeling guests remember most.

As Solitude expands, our purpose remains the same: to offer spaces that restore connection — to nature, to others, and to oneself.

Because in the end, what matters isn’t just where you travel, but who you share it with.

Values

Wave Graphic

Every journey with Solitude begins with people.

From the way we design our vessels to how we welcome each guest on board, our values guide every decision we make. They were shaped by family beginnings and strengthened through years of hands-on experience at sea.

Our three core values — Comfort, Safety, and Communication — keep us steady, honest, and connected.

COMFORT

Comfort, to us, means care.
It’s the feeling of being seen and remembered — a favourite drink waiting after a dive, a cabin that feels like your own. Every detail on our liveaboards and in our resorts is designed with thought and purpose, balancing function and warmth.

We create spaces where guests and crew alike can rest, breathe, and belong. Comfort isn’t indulgence; it’s the ease that lets you focus on what matters most — the experience, the ocean, and the people around you.

SAFETY

Safety sits at the heart of everything we do.
It begins long before a voyage or a dive — in the design of our vessels, the maintenance of our equipment, and the continual training of our teams.

We pair modern systems with local knowledge, drawing on years of experience in the regions we operate. Every member of our crew understands that safety is more than procedure; it’s an act of respect for life, nature, and each other.

COMMUNICATION

Good communication builds trust.

From the first enquiry to the farewell handshake, we keep conversations open, honest, and kind. Guests are kept informed, listened to, and never left wondering. Within our teams, communication means clarity, accountability, and learning — debriefs after dives, open discussions after each trip, and shared feedback that helps everyone grow.

Living Our Values

These principles shape more than guest experiences — they define our workplace culture. We invest in training and mentorship, encourage curiosity, and promote from within. Many of our crew have grown alongside Solitude, carrying forward the same sense of pride and belonging that began with our founders.

Real Focus: Ethical Storytelling Beneath the Surface

Waves Spacer Centre

Our passion for the ocean extends beyond exploration. Through Real Focus — Solitude’s underwater photography initiative — we encourage divers to connect more deeply with the marine world and to tell its stories with integrity.

The Real Focus Underwater Shootout celebrates not only imagery, but awareness. Participants are invited to observe before they capture, to understand before they compose, and to honour the natural behaviour of marine life.

Photography is a universal language, and Real Focus embodies our value of Communication — using imagery to educate, inspire, and advocate for the ocean’s well-being. By providing a structured yet creatively free space, we help photographers, scientists, and storytellers transform their art into action.

More than a competition, Real Focus is a movement built on the same foundations that guide every Solitude experience: Comfort through shared purpose, Safety through respect for the marine environment, and Communication through storytelling that uplifts, informs, and protects.

Our Philosophy: Being R.E.A.L.

In addition to our core values, everyone at Solitude lives by a shared philosophy we call R.E.A.L. — a reminder to stay grounded in what matters: Reliability, Efficiency, Accountability, and Leadership.

These principles shape how we work, how we treat one another, and how we earn the trust of our guests.

RELIABILITY

Consistency builds confidence.

Each member of our team takes pride in being dependable — in communication, in standards, and in care. From daily dive briefings to behind-the-scenes logistics, reliability ensures every guest feels supported and every detail is handled with thought.

EFFICIENCY

We believe that a positive, respectful workplace creates natural efficiency.
When people feel valued, they work with energy and purpose. We nurture an environment where collaboration flows easily, tasks are handled with clarity, and balance is protected — so our teams can give their best without losing their spark.

ACCOUNTABILITY

Accountability is ownership with heart.
Every person at Solitude understands their role in shaping our collective success. We trust our team with autonomy to make sound decisions, learn from challenges, and constantly improve — not because they have to, but because they care.

LEADERSHIP

Leadership at Solitude isn’t about titles — it’s about example.
Whether guiding a dive or mentoring a new crew member, leadership means showing integrity, kindness, and calm under pressure. We encourage every individual to lead from where they are, inspiring others through professionalism and empathy.

Bringing R.E.A.L. to Life

Together, these four principles form the backbone of how we operate.
They keep our family-founded spirit alive while ensuring professional consistency across every vessel and resort. To be R.E.A.L. is to blend reliability with warmth, precision with humanity — the very balance that defines Solitude.

Our People

At the heart of Solitude is a team of individuals united by a shared purpose — to create experiences that connect people with the ocean and with one another.
From our founders to our fleet managers, dive teams, chefs, and engineers, each person plays a vital role in shaping the warmth and reliability that define Solitude.

We’re proud to be family-founded and family-minded, yet professionally managed — a balance that allows us to stay true to our roots while evolving with the needs of modern travellers.

Our Founders

Solitude began as a family idea — and that spirit remains at its core.
Our founders envisioned more than a dive operation; they wanted to build a people-centred company where every decision is guided by care, consistency, and respect for the ocean.

Their leadership is both personal and present — not from afar, but from within the daily rhythm of the business. They continue to shape Solitude’s direction through mentorship, collaboration, and a belief that success is measured not only by growth, but by the well-being of those who journey with us.

Together, they embody the essence of Solitude’s philosophy: family-founded, family-minded, professionally managed.

They are the link between the operational and the experiential: ensuring that what is promised on screen is delivered seamlessly in person. Each member combines professionalism with genuine warmth, balancing precision with approachability.

Working hand in hand with our on-site and onboard teams, they uphold the consistency, reliability, and heart that make Solitude feel personal — no matter which vessel or resort you visit.
