We are thrilled to partner with #makrogehtimmer, a vibrant Facebook community of underwater photography enthusiasts and a leading hub for macro photography in the marine world. This passionate group brings together photographers from across the globe who share a love for capturing the intricate beauty of marine life through macro photography.
Originally a motto for a small underwater macro workshop in a lake in Germany, #makrogehtimmer—translated as you can always do macro regardless of poor visibility or cold water—was founded in the summer of 2022. Since then, it has grown rapidly, now boasting nearly 5,000 members from over 100 countries. The group’s focus includes underwater macro photography, photo competitions, macro destinations, workshops, and techniques, with regular monthly webinars covering these topics. They also host themed weeks, offering members a dynamic and engaging space for learning and sharing their expertise.
In addition to their online presence, the group organises an annual exhibition of underwater macro photography in Zürich, Switzerland, further showcasing their dedication to the art form.
Members of #makrogehtimmer are known for their skill in capturing stunning, close-up images of marine creatures. Their commitment to ethical photography aligns perfectly with the principles of the Real Focus: Underwater Photography Shootout, which is co-organized by Solitude World and #makrogehtimmer. Together, we aim to inspire photographers to highlight the ocean’s natural beauty while safeguarding its delicate ecosystems.
